NEW EP: BLOOM

Available on Bandcamp.

Also streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Like a soundtrack for an industrial fairy tale, Bloom draws you into a world that is part Bavarian forest and part oil refinery. Imagine walking slowly through mossy and oil-streaked passages. Above you is a tangle of tree limbs, pipes and twisting cables as you make your way through the damp gloom. Suddenly, the darkness parts and before you is a shaft of light illuminating a strange and beautiful flower with a single bloom. Is it a miracle, a gift? Or an illusion…a trap?

BREATH IN THE MACHINE

Featuring Theresa Brooks

Available on Bandcamp.

Also streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

"To hear the near final mix of the song before it was released was a little like exploring a new part of a familiar city at night. Feeling the awe and wonder of something new..." - Theresa Brooks, featured artist

The industrial edge of “Breath in the Machine” masks a surprising secret: the lead instrument is…yup, a bassoon. Through unconventional performance techniques, the bassoonist (Theresa Brooks) breathes a radically different energy through the mechanics of her instrument and, with the help of electronic manipulation, it is warped into unrecognizable and distorted forms against a propulsive industrial beat.

SACRED SPACE 1

Available on Bandcamp.

Also streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Using text from the medieval Latin chant Dies Irae (Day of Wrath), Sacred Space 1 is a sonic imagining of religion or spirituality somewhere in a post-industrial wasteland. Some might call it ambient noise, but that doesn’t capture its essence; it’s more accurately a “sound drama.”

Picture the cathedral-like interior of a forsaken factory. Discordant chimes reverberate in the dusty gloom. Two penitents enter and slowly approach an altar, there abasing themselves before the machine. In the shadows, anchorites intone fearful chants in an ancient tongue. The machine stirs to life, processes its calculations, then renders a judgment. Only one penitent emerges.

STEEL + HONEY

Available on Bandcamp.

Also streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Steel + Honey is a dynamic blend of industrial-inspired electronica. Moving at a brisk tempo, industrial textures and off-kilter electronics contrast with melodic choruses that border on confection. As the track progresses, it plunges into darker, more intense territory, where dissonance and driving rhythms create a tension-filled climax. The journey concludes with a return to the initial themes, yet it leaves a lingering sense of unresolved conflict, hinting that turmoil persists beneath the surface.

DIVERGENCE

A Tale of Human Nature, Arrogance and Reckoning

Streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Also available on Bandcamp.

What happens when our sense of self drifts from fundamental reality? My latest single Divergence delves into that realm.

This distinctive track features an energetic walking bass and electronic percussion with a hint of Latin groove. Enigmatic harmonies create a backdrop for synths that oscillate between aggressive jabs and soft caresses. The layered vocals—part intoned, part sung—weave a tale of human nature, arrogance and reckoning.

AT THE EDGE

Released April, 2024

Streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Also available on Bandcamp.

At The Edge is an exploration of personal and spiritual crisis in an industrialized society, equal parts darkness and light, despair and hope, resignation and resistance. Pervasive sounds of machinery and technology are set against quantized rhythms. Yet a fractured humanity, expressed in the classical influences and layered voices, yearns to break free of the machinery, rediscover itself and find meaning in existence.

Album with six songs, 28.5 minutes total

WEIMAR

An Eclectic Musical Journey Through Sociopolitical Disintegration

Weimar is not a place. It is not a time.
It is a state of being, a condition.

Progress and nostalgia collide.
Science and delusion embrace.
Creation mingles with decay.
Extremity saturates the mundane.

The moment is all.
The center cannot hold.
And nothing can be satisfied.

Weimar is a suite of instrumental music – three pieces totaling 17 minutes – combining the sound of 80s techno and industrial with the drama, sweep, and thematic and motivic development of classical music. It expressionistically conveys a process of societal disintegration under the stress of a "shock to the system", and the opportunistic will to power on the part of extremists within that society. The three pieces are imbued with musical motifs that appear and reappear in varied forms, culminating in a chaotic finale.

Streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Also available on Bandcamp.
